BOUDOIR FAQS

Individual Boudoir

Why do a boudoir photography session?

I have heard people state many different reasons for wanting to have boudoir photos and they range anywhere from wanting to do something nice for themselves to wanting to have something special to give to their partners.

The reason I began shooting boudoir was to help every woman that I encounter understand that they are not only special, but they are beautiful in their uniqueness. I love to draw out that uniqueness and add a hint of sexiness! Every person, regardless of who they are, deserves to feel sexy and desirable.

What options do I have for location?

Most photoshoots take place in my private studio in downtown Vancouver, Washington. I usually suggest some type of outdoor shooting as well because fresh air and skin are a match made in heaven! I am always open to discuss traveling to a specific location that you have in mind.

What should I do with my hair and makeup?

Some women are very comfortable doing their own hair and/or make up while others are not. If you want to do your own hair and/or makeup then that is great! Otherwise, my licensed cosmetologist will work with you to create a beautiful sexy look that you will love!

Can I drink alcohol before the shoot?

Definitely! (As long as you’re 21 of course.) I do offer a variety of alcoholic beverages for you to choose from. You are more than welcome to bring your own beverage if you would like. For my participants who are under 21, I offer a fully stocked soda bar complete with sparkling cider.

What should I do to prepare?

The first thing I would recommend is rest and hydration. Several days prior start drinking lots of water and make sure that you get a good night’s sleep the night before. Second I would suggest a little stretching or light yoga to increase flexibility and comfort. I would also suggest getting a manicure and pedicure prior to the shoot date or at the very least making sure all of your nails are clean, trimmed and polished. Neutral polish colors are the most versatile.

As a word of caution, if you go tanning, be aware of any lines that might be created when lying down in a tanning bed.

What should I bring with me to my boudoir photography session?

Anything you want! I usually recommend packing a little more than you will need so that you have extra options and choices along the way. There are a few basic items that I encourage every woman to bring regardless of whether this is individual, maternity or a couple’s boudoir session:

  • Black or white bra and panty set
  • Nude bra and panty set
  • A pair of comfortable shoes
  • At least one pair of high heels
  • A robe that is easy to get in and out of
  • Makeup and hairspray for touch ups (if you did your own hair and makeup)
  • A sweater or jacket that is warm if we are shooting in the fall, winter or spring months—it is the PNW after all!

Props are always fun and include anything from handcuffs and rope, a fun pair of socks or glasses, or even your husband’s favorite shirt.

Other possible options include, but are not limited to:

  • Lingerie
  • Sun dresses
  • Evening gowns
  • High heels, high heels, high heels!
  • Tee shirts/tank tops and boxer shorts
  • Scarves

What should I expect during a boudoir photography session?

You should expect to be comfortable and to enjoy yourself! Boudoir sessions are all about you! I will provide beverages, snacks, frequent breaks and pleasant conversation. It is a casual and relaxed environment and together we will create magic!

Couple’s Boudoir

Why do couples do a boudoir photography session?

Because it’s hot. Because it’s fun and because it’s nearly impossible to take selfies while being intimate with your partner.

What about hair and makeup?

Who doesn’t love bed head?!? Plan to come with hair and makeup looking perfect but not ending up that way! I suggest that women style their hair in a way that can be down or pulled up loosely in a matter of minutes. For men, arrive looking fly, but you should also plan to look a little roughed up by the time the photo session is over.

Can we drink alcohol before the shoot?

Definitely! (As long as you’re 21 of course.) I do offer a variety of alcoholic beverages for you to choose from. You are more than happy to bring your own beverage if you would like. For my participants who are under 21, I offer a fully stocked soda bar, complete with sparkling cider.

Is there anything we should do to prepare?

The first thing I would recommend is rest and hydration. Several days prior start drinking lots of water and make sure that you get a good night’s sleep the night before. I would also recommend having a conversation between partners about expectations and any boundaries that either partner may need to be comfortable.

What options do we have for location?

Most photoshoots take place in my private studio in downtown Vancouver, Washington. I am more than happy to do some outdoor shooting as well because fresh air and skin are a match made in heaven! I am always open to discuss traveling to a specific location that you have in mind.

What should we expect during a couple's boudoir photography session?

These photo sessions are meant to be steamy sexy hot so that is what you can expect! As with any of my photo sessions, you should expect to be comfortable and to enjoy yourself! Usually we will shoot in a warm, usually darkish private room. I will be the only other person in the room with you. While I will be there to direct you, I will mostly function to capture the steam that is being generated between you and your partner.

Are the couple’s sessions pornographic?

No. And let me repeat that: No. I work to capture romance and sexual tension between couples. I consider all of my work to be tasteful and artistic. I believe that it is very easy to capture heat between couples without there even being nudity involved. I am more than happy to work with each couple to discuss comfort limitation of everyone involved.
